Franklin Pühn

95. Birthday

19 September 2020 – 10 January 2021

RAUM
Small Exhibition Hall

Heidenheim’s best-known artist, Franklin Pühn, turned 95 in May this year. At this time, the art museum originally also wanted to present an exhibition of recent works on paper by the still active sculptor, but this had to be postponed due to Corona restrictions. Now the exhibition opens on 18 September.

Franklin Pühn began his career as a successful sculptor in the mid-1950s in Heidenheim, having previously completed his studies at the Stuttgart Art Academy. He emerged as the winner of numerous competitions for art on buildings, so that many of his works can still be found in public spaces today. At the same time, he also established himself as a sought-after artist whose works adorn many collections and private homes. As a member of the artists’ group 5/54, he was instrumental in establishing modern art in Heidenheim. In addition, he worked for over five decades as an art lecturer at the adult education centre, directed the Heidenheim Art Association for almost three decades and enjoyed an excellent reputation as an art mediator during the association’s exhibition excursions. In recognition of his great services to art, the municipal council awarded him the city’s civic medal in 2005.
