The objects Simone Demandt shows in her photographs are only seemingly banal, strange or harmless. In reality, they are objects that were used in connection with crimes. Between 2011 and 2013, Simone Demandt (*1959) photographed objects in the evidence rooms of public prosecutors’ offices in Baden-Württemberg that were used accidentally or intentionally as tools of crime.
But the viewer of the photographs learns nothing about the criminal history of these objects. They are thus forced to think for themselves about their possible uses and consequences.
